Fostering Social Worker

Durham County Council Looked After Children and Permanence Service is committed to providing high quality fostering and adoption services.

The Fostering Service is a very busy service and the successful candidate will be expected to implement Children Services, Fostering Service and LSCB policies and procedures in order to manage risk and implement decisions which ensure that children and young people are safeguarded and their life chances are enhanced and promoted.

The Fostering Service work in close partnership with colleagues both internally and with other agencies. We have a strong emphasis on achieving positive outcomes for children by offering good support and training to both prospective and existing foster carers. The permanence team support primarily long term foster carers and undertake family finding work as well as appropriately planning and matching children to families who can offer permanence through a long term foster family

We are looking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Social Worker to Durham County Council Fostering Permanence Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at a time of change and development.

The team is committed to the highest standards of professional practice whilst ensuring looked after children are at the heart of what we do.

The successful candidate should have a Degree in Social Work or CQSW, CSS or Dip SW and hold HCPC Registration, and a minimum of two years post qualifying experience in working with Looked After Children.

The successful applicant for this post will be required to apply for a Disclosure & Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held on Friday 16th December 2016
