Middlesbrough – the place to live, work and visit

Middlesbrough is a fantastic place, proud of its heritage and ambitious enough to shape an entirely different future. We have set out our city-scale plans to deliver over £600 million of investment that will promote economic growth and strengthen both our regional and national reputation as a destination of choice.

Our ambition for our children and young people is equally high and we are investing in the transformation of children services through our ‘Believe in families’ programme. We are really excited by this investment and are looking to recruit a wide range of social workers with the right knowledge, skills and values, to be a part of our journey to help us shape the delivery of services for Middlesbrough.

This is a very exciting time for Children’s Services in Middlesbrough and we are seeking exceptional people to help us deliver our transformation for the children and families of Middlesbrough. If you have the Passion, Integrity and Focus to help us achieve our ambition, we would love to hear from you.

We have a number of social work opportunities, particularly for practitioners with experience to share, ranging from positions within our Care Planning teams.
You will be registered with HCPC and prepared to work in various locations in Middlesbrough.

Social workers in Middlesbrough benefit from low caseloads and strong support with regular supervision from Managers. We offer extensive excellent training opportunities and excellent support to our social workers through progression of career grades. We support our newly qualified social workers with a dedicated ASYE manager who offers additional support and supervision through the first year of practice. We also support a trainee manager’s programme for experienced practitioners.

Middlesbrough supports flexible working and offer a variety of working patterns such as working 37 hours over 4 days or 74 hours over 9 days – this is to support a work life balance. We offer free parking passes and an excellent varied range of staff discounts.
