This is an exciting time to join Northumberland’s Front Door Service which incorporates the triage team.

Do you have excellent communication and research skills and a commitment to high quality social work practice that focuses on the child’s experience? Then you might be the right person to join our front door triage team.

Triage is the first point of contact for all new contacts about children, young people and their families. We help vulnerable children who may benefit from early help services as well as children in need of social work support, protection and care your role will be to receive referrals , gather information, signpost to services and make recommendations about thresholds for intervention.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment, ideally with direct experience of a front door/triage service.
You will have experience of working in a statutory child protection team and be confident and competent in your ability to safeguard and protect children.
You will always want to hear the child’s voice and ensure that this is taken into account.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to You will be able to make decisions and recommendations in a fast paced environment
You will be able to contribute to the development of the service.
You will have a sound knowledge base of the Knowledge and Skills Statement for Child and Family Social Work and the application of Professional Capabilities Framework which will be embedded within all elements of your practice.
You will be empathetic and sensitive to the needs of children and families
You will understand the importance of performance information and your contribution to maintaining high standards .
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to convey complex messages in a straightforward way, both verbally and in writing.
You will not be afraid to think creatively to solve problems.
You will be passionate about maximising a child’s life chances to improve their overall outcomes.
You will care enough to want to make a difference - every day.

You should hold a relevant Social Work qualification such as the Social Work Degree, DipSW, CQSW or CSS and be registered with the HCPC.
