The Service

The Housing & Public Protection Team operates throughout Northumberland and is responsible for maintaining council housing stock. The successful apprentice will work alongside experienced staff undertaking a range of repair and maintenance activities.

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Local Services Team for a Stores Support Operative Apprentice. Although applicants do not need to have any prior experience, they must be willing to undertake duties to gain experience and knowledge in basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing and decorating, supported with offsite training. Roles in Stores Support work are physical in nature, and may involve lifting and moving of equipment, working at heights and working in confined spaces. The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. Stores Support roles operate strictly within the requirements of health and safety legislation.

Although applicants do not need to have any prior experience, they must be willing to undertake duties and training to gain experience in level 2 in Supply chain warehouse operative.

Apprenticeship wages, all responsibilities will be supported with offsite apprenticeship training.

Essential requirements:
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/c or equivalent)
