Newcastle City Council is looking to appoint a Student Planner with specialism in landscape and arboriculture work on a six-month fixed term contract to support the delivery of an effective and efficient planning service. The post-holders will have the opportunity to gain experience in a busy planning section covering work in both development management and planning policy.
We are seeking additional resource to provide specialist advice on tree, landscape and green infrastructure functions across the city. We are looking for enthusiastic person with good interpersonal skills with relevant experience of providing specialist landscape advice in relation to development proposals, implementing statutory provisions and legislation in relation to protected trees, woodland and hedgerows.
Duties will include the review of existing Tree Preservation procedures and consideration of applications for works to protected trees covered by Tree Preservation Orders and Conservation legislation.
You must be able to communicate effectively and clearly, both verbally and in writing with applicants, colleagues, Authority Members and local communities on tree related matters.
