Sunningdale Special School in Sunderland is looking for two outstanding member’s of support staff to join our staff team as we move into the next phase of our school’s development. Sunningdale School is a consistently outstanding specialist setting that offers a child centred curriculum for pupils with Severe, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (including those with Autism).
 
“Leaders have developed an inspirational curriculum that ensures that learning is tailored to meet the needs of all pupils. Because of this, pupils display exceptionally high levels of engagement in learning. They make rapid progress from their starting points.” (Ofsted, 2023).
 
We are looking for a highly skilled practitioner with experience of supporting teaching of pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Complex Learning Difficulties (CLD) within a specialist setting. Applicants must have a good understanding of child development and specifically the development of those with complex cognitive, physical and health needs. The role will involve working as part of a multi-professional team on a daily basis.
 
The successful candidate will support teaching and learning in one of our four developmental pathways: Pre-formal; Semi-formal Explore; Informal: Explore; Semi-Formal: Play. More information can be found in the curriculum section of the school’s website.
