Sunningdale School is a consistently outstanding specialist setting that offers a child centred curriculum for pupils with Severe, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (including those with Autism).
Due to significant growth the school are looking to appoint outstanding members of support staff to join our staff team and contribute to the school’s outstanding provision and future development.
Sunningdale School’s curriculum approach is designed to specifically prepare children for both adulthood and life beyond the school. The school’s curriculum approach is relatively unique and was developed over a number of years. It continuously evolves to meet the needs of the pupils attending the school. The school is recognised as an exemplar school for organisations such as Equals, an advisory school for Evidence for Learning and contributes to a number of other national organisations within the specialist sector of education. The school is also the only maintained specialist setting nationally recognised by the NCB as an EY Stronger Practice Hub.
To ensure that we are able to meet each child’s holistic needs as specifically as possible Sunningdale School’s curriculum is arranged into four pathways. These are the Pre-formal Pathway; the Explore Pathway; the Semi-formal Play Pathway; and the Formal Pathway. Each of these Pathways has its own distinct overarching pedagogical (teaching and learning) approach that begins to meet the collective needs of the pupils within that pathway which is then personalised to a higher degree to meet the specific needs of individual pupils.
