37 hours per week, term time only plus 5 training days

Maternity leave cover, initially to Easter 2017

Kenton School is at the cutting edge of modern education. With around 2000 students, we are the largest school in the North East. However despite our size we pride ourselves on retaining a family atmosphere and in ensuring that we cater for the needs of all our students, recognising their special gifts or talents.

We are seeking candidates for the above post based within our Personalised Learning Centre (PLC) focusing on supporting students who are educated in a specialist area which aims to re-engage them with learning by following a curriculum which meets the needs of the individual. The PLC is committed to raising the aspirations of these children so they have a target to aim for and can see a path which will lead them to academic success and give them a future career.

The successful candidate will be required to deliver sessions and interventions, support teachers in the classroom, act as a form tutor, and to implement strategies to overcome challenging behaviours to facilitate learning.

We are seeking applications from candidates with previous experience working with secondary age children who have the resilience, commitment and ability to work effectively with students with a wide range of SEMH difficulties to challenge, motivate and inspire them to achieve. Candidates must possess exceptional interpersonal skills combined with a working knowledge of effectively managing student behaviour.

In return we offer the opportunity to work in a supportive team in an innovative school committed to the development of all our students and staff.

Application forms and further details for all posts are available directly from our website at www.kenton.newcastle.sch.uk or by contacting us by telephone on 0191 214 2200 or by email at: hr@kenton.newcastle.sch.uk

Closing date: 12noon, 3 November 2016

Kenton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.
