We are seeking to recruit a new Support Worker to join our highly regarded REALAC team in April 2018. This post is funded through pupil premium and extended annually dependent on each year's annual allocation.

You will:
* Understand the barriers often faced by looked after children and young people in general.
* Have knowledge of the emotional, psychological and cognitive development of children and adolescents
* Knowledge and experience of counselling young people
* Have an understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures
* Understand the need to maintain appropriate professional boundaries whilst being approachable and supportive
* Have the ability to communicate with young people, families and other professionals
* Be able to deliver programmes that support counselling and wellbeing
* Have the ability to remain calm and optimistic in the face of considerable challenge
* Have effective ICT skills (Word, Excel, database management)
* Have good organisation, planning and record keeping skills
* Have experience of working with children and young people in educational or social care settings
* Have experience of working with challenging children and young people
* Have experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
* Have good literacy and numeracy qualifications to at least Level 2
* Have a relevant Level 3 qualification in social care, or educational or supporting children and young people
* Have access to a car with current valid driving licence and appropriate insurance
