PERMANENT
START DATE : SEPTEMBER 2018
Sunningdale Special School in Sunderland is looking for an ‘outstanding’ practitioner to join and lead our highly successful Early Years Foundation Stage department.
Sunningdale School is at the forefront of teaching Special Educational Needs. A consistently ‘outstanding’ school that offers an innovative child centred curriculum for pupils with Severe, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (including those with Autism).
We are looking for a highly skilled practitioner with experience of teaching the Early Years curriculum. You must have a good understanding of child development and specifically the development of those with complex cognitive, physical and health needs.
The role will involve the leadership of our EYFS department as well as some involvement and the overview of our non-statutory provision for children between the age of 18 months and 3 years with complex needs but do not yet have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The post holder will form part of our Middle Leadership Team, will work closely with colleagues at all levels and report directly to the Senior Leadership Team. The role will also involve co-ordinating moderation, evaluating Teaching and Learning and working with our innovative small stepped targeting and tracking system for those working below age related expectations.
You will also play a role in Sunningdale’s SEND specialist Teaching School Alliance. The teaching school delivers training, seminars and support for a range of stakeholders both regionally in the North East and Nationally. This includes the development and facilitation of our innovative SEN Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme and the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML).
If you are interested in joining a forward thinking school please contact the school for more information and an application pack.
Visits to the school will take place on Wednesday April 18th at 10 am and Monday April 23rd at 1.30 pm. Please contact Glenis Wallace (Office Manager) 0191 5535880 to book your visit.
Closing date Friday April 27th, 2018
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
School safeguards and protects its students and staff by being committed to respond in accordance with Sunderland Local Safeguarding Board Procedures.
