Hexham Priory School is a special school (2 to 19 years) for pupils with severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties including those with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, which in December 2012 was judged by OFSTED to be an Outstanding School. OFSTED stated that:
“The adults take seriously the school motto ‘never underestimate a child’s ability’ so pupils are challenged to the limit in lessons. Consequently, they enjoy learning and do exceptionally well”
Experience of working with children with special educational needs is essential. The candidate will be expected to teach pupils whose ability levels are below age-related expectations.
