Further information

Horizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of Abbey Hill Academy, Westlands Academy, Green Gates Academy and Hollis Academy. The academies serve a population of approximately 500 students aged 5 to 19 with a broad range of learning difficulties.

Abbey Hill Academy & Abbey Hill Academy 6th Form are at the forefront of current developments in the education of young people with special needs. We specialise in meeting the needs of students aged 11 to 19 who have a full range of learning disabilities.

Abbey Hill Academy, where this post will be situated, provides for approximately 225 young people aged 11 to 19 years who have learning difficulties, as well as other physical and social needs.

The academy is seeking to recruit a full time teacher of ICT to join our team in September 2018. The post is to teach students aged 16-19 with a broad range of special educational needs in the Academy's 6th Form. The successful candidate will need to have excellent subject knowledge and be able to deliver Level 1 and 2 ICT qualifications such as City and Guilds' ICQ IT Users and OCR Functional Skills to students with a wide range of ability levels. Knowledge and experience of teaching ICT is essential.

The right candidate will need to be an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher, with high expectations of our children and themselves and have the ability, perseverance and resilience to be an outstanding practitioner. The ability to teach GCSE photography is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will be joining a Multi Academy Trust that is moving forwards and is striving for excellence. We offer a collaborative and supportive environment where staff are valued and nurtured.

Applications are welcome from newly qualified or experienced teachers from a secondary background. As well as excellent curriculum knowledge, good communication and interpersonal skills, the successful candidates will have proven ability to work as part of a team of teachers and support staff. Previous experience of working with students with SEN again would be desirable but not essential.

A visit to the academy would be highly recommended. To arrange this and/or to obtain an application form and further information please e-mail Mrs Julie Povall on julie.povall@horizonstrust.org.uk

Completed application forms should be returned by 12 noon on Tuesday 24th April to: Julie Povall, HR Clerk, Abbey Hill Academy, Ketton Road, Stockton-On-Tees, TS19 8BU or by email to julie.povall@horizonstrust.org.uk.
