A helping hand from you. A headstart for them.

We want all our young people to have the best chance of success in life. To make sure that’s the case, you’ll give them extra help when they’re in the classroom. The right support can really make an enormous difference. As a Teaching Assistant, you have to be understanding and committed. That’s because the young people in our schools have social, emotional, mental health and complex learning needs that call for extra dedication. Help them progress and you’ll have every opportunity to do the same with your career.

The role

As a Teaching Assistant at The Grange Learning Centre, you’ll be working directly with young people in the classroom every day. You’ll help them learn, monitor their work and help raise their self-esteem. It’s not just about academic achievement; we want them to feel accepted and confident in their abilities. You’ll need to be very resilient and dedicated to the wellbeing of our young people. Your support can be invaluable to teachers and young people, which means it’s very rewarding.

Your profile

As an experienced Teaching Assistant already, you should be used to life in the classroom and up to date with welfare and safeguarding practices within Education. You’ll also need to be qualified to at least NVQ level 2 (or equivalent), but what we’re really looking for is the ability to connect. We need you to build great relationships with all our young people, so you can motivate them to do well and be the best that they can be. If you’re emotionally strong and good in a team, we can offer a role with exciting prospects. There are occasional meetings outside school hours, which your attendance will be required.

About us

For children with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us, here at Witherslack Group. With our high staff-to-child ratio and in-house clinical teams, we’re proud to have won a reputation for excellence and market leading Ofsted ratings. Our aspirational homes, schools and ethos help us achieve the best possible outcomes. In short, we’re enhancing life opportunities.

Rewards

We know you’re going to do great things as part of our brilliant team. To say thank you, we offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. In return for your hard work, you’ll enjoy a competitive salary, full school holidays (including bank holidays), contributory pension (matched up to 5%), comprehensive induction and ongoing training, Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance, Cycle to Work and tax-free childcare vouchers. We’ll also cover the cost of your Enhanced DBS check, which is a compulsory part of our recruitment process.
