Team Manager – Leaving Care Team
• Do you have a proven track record of delivering high quality services to children looked after and care leavers?
• Are you committed to providing an outstanding service for care leavers?
If the answer to these questions is yes, then we would like to hear from you. As part of South Tyneside's drive for continuous improvement we are looking for an enthusiastic, positive person to manage the Leaving Care Team as part of the Integrated Children Looked After Service.
This is an opportunity to join a developing service and provide a key contribution towards improving outcomes for our care leavers in South Tyneside.
The commitment to our young people is council wide, including our partners. Recent initiatives to improve the service include a planned move to a new building that is central and accessible, it will bring services for children looked after and care leavers together – our young people have made a key contribution to the planning of the move.
Examples of our offer for care leavers includes a continuing service for all care leavers up to the age of 25, Council Tax exemptions, a free leisure offer and the WorkPlace initiative to support education, training and employment opportunities.
We are looking for a manager with clear leadership and motivational qualities who is committed in their approach to improving outcomes and leading our aim to provide an outstanding service for care leavers. The successful candidate will need to have highly developed specialist knowledge of young people leaving care.
Yes, there will be challenges and tough times ahead but there is no better feeling than achieving best outcomes for our children and young people. That is why we encourage new ideas and new ways of thinking; you will need to place children and young people at the heart of everything you do.
If you have real drive and ambition and are professionally qualified with substantial post qualifying experience and feel that you have the people skills to manage a team of personal advisors, then we would like to hear from you.
For an informal discussion about the role please contact Tony Joyce, Service Manager on (0191) 424 4647.
South Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant pre-employment checks.
