Grade 2, 4 or 6 £17,972 - £28,221. Recruitment to any technician post within the Infrastructure and Transportation Directorate can be at either grade 2, 4 or 6 based on qualifications, length of experience set out in years and meeting required competencies.

Sunderland City Council requires an enthusiastic individual who has demonstrable knowledge and expertise in the delivery of road safety services. The role involves education, training, publicity and engineering through safer routes to school, sustainable travel, school crossing patrol service, child pedestrian and bikeability training. Managing risk for all road safety staff, and services whilst also ensuring safeguarding of staff, pupils and volunteers through training, legislation and safer recruiting. Provision of road safety advice to internal and external bodies. Undertaking accident collision investigation and road safety audits for both internal and externally delivered schemes.

You will also contribute towards the development and improvement of the service and assist in the planning for longer term road safety needs in the city in working with colleagues, including consultants in examining and formulating recommendations for investment in education and training across the city.

You will ideally be from a Road Safety or Traffic and Transportation Engineering background, and will preferably have suitable experience within a Road Safety Education environment and / or allied field such as experience in the delivery of education and training and demonstrate the ability to manage, supervise and monitor a number of projects simultaneously.
