Located at the heart of Weardale, an area of outstanding natural beauty, Wolsingham School is approximately 15 minutes drive west of Durham. The school is set in extensive grounds having benefited from a new building in April 2016. The Creative Arts Faculty, comprising Music and Art, is situated in our newest part of the school with purpose-built classrooms as well as three peripatetic practice rooms.

We are seeking to appoint a temporary (one year) Faculty Leader for Creative Arts with a specialism in Music who is passionate about teaching and learning and is committed to ensuring the progress of all students. The post arises due to a secondment of the current Faculty Leader. Whether you are an outstanding classroom practitioner with aspirations to be a mid-leader, currently a Second in Department looking to expand your leadership experience, or if you are simply ready for a new challenge, we would love to hear from you. Because this is a temporary post, applications for the post of Music Teacher are also welcome from candidates who are not yet ready to be a Faculty Leader but who would like to teach Music in our school.

Wolsingham School is one of the top schools in County Durham. In 2018, our Progress 8 score was +0.22 and 70% of our students passed English and Maths. We have exceptionally well-behaved pupils and an extensive extra-curricular programme. We are oversubscribed for Year 7 entry for September 2019. Our staff and Leadership Team are extremely supportive and we provide excellent professional development opportunities for NQTs and more experienced staff alike.

We welcome applications regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity or religion. Our school is also committed to the protection and safety of its students. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure DBS check.

Application forms are available from and returnable to the school.
