An opportunity has arisen for a Youth Employment Assistant required until 30th June 2018. The post is based at Seaham, Crook and Chester-Le-Street.

DurhamWorks is an exciting, innovative, £17m programme led by Durham County Council in partnership with sixteen external Delivery Partners. It will support 5830 15-24 year old unemployed County Durham residents into employment, education or training through intensive and long-term support; innovative and engaging activities to develop motivation, work-related skills and work experience and increased employment opportunities.

We have set ourselves ambitious targets to reduce the number of young unemployed people in the county and we want to add to our existing team, by recruiting highly motivated people to develop and enhance the DurhamWorks programme. We are looking for individuals who can make a real contribution, both to the team and to the young people in the county.

The successful candidates will provide intensive and tailored pre and post-employment support to individual 18-24 year old customers registered on the DurhamWorks programme, building upon the work already undertaken by Job Centre Plus and the Youth Employment Advisors. The post holder will be responsible to the Area Co-ordinator and work alongside the Employment Advisors, with young people who have been identified as requiring additional support to enable them to progress and remain in learning and/or employment.

The post-holders will develop and maintain a wide knowledge of local Labour Market Intelligence and opportunities for clients and maintain an up to date knowledge of the skills, support services and utilise local provision, ensuring that clients are referred to high quality and appropriate provision.

The successful candidates should hold an IAG qualification at Level 3 and be able to demonstrate an understanding and have some relevant experience in the careers or employability sector.
