Further Information
As part of the Council’s Annual Apprenticeship Program, we have an amazing and rewarding career development opportunity to gain work experience in our Children’s Services whilst studying towards a Level 6 - Career Development Professional Apprenticeship qualification. We take pride in being a great place to work, where staff are valued, trusted, and supported to make a positive contribution. We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference, to serve the people of our borough, and who is committed to their own development.

Do you find job satisfaction from helping people! We mainly work with teenagers, helping them navigate the range of career choices available and supporting them to make sustainable and informed choices about their futures. We deliver a number of different functions – a traded Careers Guidance service which is funded by schools and colleges buying in our support; targeted help with Year 11 students; support for school leavers and those aged 16-18 who have left or are at risk of leaving Learning and work. Working in our Hubs, in mainstream and special schools, in colleges, and in our communities, this is a highly varied, rewarding, and interesting role.
The training will involve many opportunities to shadow colleagues working right across the range of partners and client groups we support; holding a caseload of school-aged students and young people who have become NEET; in-house and external professional training.

As this is an apprenticeship opportunity, you will be provided with all the training and support you need to be a success. All you need to demonstrate in your application be shortlisted for this opportunity is the following:
• A Level 3 qualification (A-levels or BTec - expected or obtained) or the equivalent level of work experience.
• Minimum 5 GCSEs Grade C/4 or above or equivalent Level 2 qualifications (must include English & Maths)
• A passion for working with, and making a difference for our young people
• Effective communication skills - listening, spoken and written
• Team player who is not afraid to try something new
• Commitment to own personal and professional development
• Ability to undertake independent travel throughout the borough of Stockton on Tees

ABOUT OUR OFFER: We offer a competitive apprenticeship salary, paid time to attend training, generous annual leave, local government pension and access to a number of other benefits like discounts at high street and online retailers, and health & wellbeing support including access to mental wellbeing support and physiotherapy services. We are committed to supporting you throughout your apprenticeship with a dedicated mentor, and additional training & development opportunities. There is also the potential for you to secure long term employment with the Council upon completion of your qualification, and the ability to also apply for internal vacancies restricted to employees throughout your apprenticeship.

And that’s not all – We also offer a degree of flexible working with the opportunity of working from home in line with the Council’s Flexible Working Policy, following completion of a 6-month probationary period.
