Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.
Redcar and Cleveland is a place with a proud past and a bright future. We are building a future using the skills and ingenuity of our people, based around bold and ambitious plans, which link to the plans of the Tees Valley Combined Authority, and the South Tees Development Corporation.
The borough is an area of great contrasts with world class industries, market towns, visitor destinations, beautiful coastline and stunning countryside. The Council continues to invest in the area to create opportunities for investment and growth. Key to this work is the Economic Growth directorate which leads on our efforts to build upon successful investment and develop an exciting growth programme that will bring long-term improvements to the local economy, create jobs and build vibrant communities.
This role is for a dynamic, visionary, experienced Transport Strategy Manager. You will lead the development of the Councils strategic transport plans, to complement those of the Tees Valley Combined Authority and the other Tees Valley Councils. You will help shape the political, economic, environmental, social and technological strategies necessary to deliver our future transport vision, and contribute to the priorities and direction of our planning, programme development and service delivery. We are looking for someone to provide strategic leadership for developing and delivering that agenda, working closely with colleagues in the other Tees Valley authorities, making sure that the policies are in place that enable us to deliver a transport network and infrastructure that supports sustainable growth in line with the Council’s strategic planning documents, Tees Valley Combined Authority’s plans, those of the South Tees Development Corporation, local requirements and national guidance. We want to ensure that all our residents, visitors and those working throughout the Borough can continue to get around as easily as possible.
You will help ensure our investment delivers the outcomes set out in our new Corporate Plan ‘Our Flourishing Future’. The Economic Growth Directorate leads on our efforts to build on our track-record of successful investment and develop an exciting growth programme that will bring long-term improvements to the local economy, create jobs and build vibrant communities.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to play a leading role in shaping the future of an area of the country that has ambitious plans, and significant new funding to make those plans real. You will help deliver a £103 million, multi-year, and multi-agency Capital programme, involving both assets built by the Council, and assets built with a range of partners.
You will work alongside the Place Investment Team, the Director and Chief Executive, and the wider Directorate to deliver numerous major transport-related projects. The suitable candidate will have a strong track record of transport policy and planning, and be sensitive to the requirements of the Tees Valley Combined Authority transport aspirations, their strategic economic plan, and those of the South Tees Development Corporation. You will have knowledge of international best practice, and have, or be willing to generate, networks with other cities and conurbations, as well as academic institutions, to define such best practice. You will also be alive to economic and sustainability concerns, ensuring they are reflected and promoted within local, sub-regional, and regional transport strategies.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has a high profile positive image as a Council that invests. We are committed to continue this exciting investment in the area to make the Borough a place where people and business want to visit, invest and live. You will play a major part in this.
