Newcastle City Council is looking to appoint an Urban Design Officer working predominantly within the Planning service, providing urban design analysis and advice on planning applications and development proposals. This includes the development of briefs, frameworks and guidance for sites within the city, the preparation of deliverable urban design proposals, and input in to major strategic transport and housing initiatives.
Proficiency and expertise in the use of Adobe Creative Suite ( including Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign ), Sketchup, Autocad, ARCGIS and Microsoft Office will be essential.
Experience of 3dStudioMax would also be advantageous.
Essential skills will include the ability to work on creative design solutions, reactively and pro-actively, using initiative, working individually and as a team, and liaising with a range of disciplines across planning, transport and development. Previous experience of or understanding of local authority systems and involvement in planning and development would be desirable.
