The Service
The Joint Equipment Loans Service (JELS) are part of the Adults Social Care service. The team are responsible for the purchase, storage and distribution of a huge variety of equipment. We deliver more than 58,000 pieces of community equipment to people across Northumberland each year. The equipment we provide is loaned and there is no charge for the use of this service.

The main purpose of the service is to provide a large range of equipment to allow people to live as independently as possible in their own home and prevent unnecessary admission to hospital and to facilitate and support discharge to their preferred place of residence/care.

Equipment can assist people with the tasks of daily life and make it easier to provide care for them and protect them from accidents. It can also help people to move back home from hospital or avoid them having to be admitted to hospital by promoting independence and self-care.
