Gosforth Federated Academies – Principal: Hugh Robinson
Gosforth Academy and Gosforth Junior High Academy
Knightsbridge
Great North Road
Gosforth
Newcastle upon Tyne
NE3 2JH

Required to start as soon as possible
Post 1: 30 hours per week, term time only.
Post 2: 25 hours per week, term time only

Come to work in a thriving community. Gosforth Federated Academies comprises two schools (Gosforth Academy and Gosforth Junior High Academy) committed to providing a superb education for pupils from Year 5 through to Year 13.

Gosforth Academy is a successful school which was graded ‘outstanding’ in its most recent Ofsted inspection.

We are looking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced personnel to join the support staff team of this organisation. Post 1 will be based primarily at Gosforth Academy and Post 2 at Gosforth Junior High Academy, although you can be required to work at any of the Academies within the Trust.

You will work alongside the Senior Leadership Team and Pastoral staff to develop systems that will enable the school to improve attendance. You will work with parents, families, young people and the school to respond to absences and reduce levels of persistent absence.

Typical duties within this post will encompass working as a school welfare and attendance officer, with a caseload of students where the major area of concern is absence from school.

The role will include:
• Undertaking home visits, where absence has been identified, both with colleagues and on a lone basis.
• Working with parents and students to address issues.
• Contributing to multi-agency working with the school and other stakeholders.
• Ensuring the appropriate use of the C.A.F or other related systems.
• Contributing to the effective use of statutory measures and being involved in decisions regarding the use of such powers.

Experience of working in this type of role for either a school or Local Authority is essential. You should be reliable and have a strong commitment to high standards of customer care. It is a requirement of the post to hold a relevant qualification in social work.

We can offer you:
• An opportunity to work with highly-skilled professionals
• Enthusiastic and motivated students
• An enhanced annual leave allowance
• An exciting and extensive commitment to professional development
• A school with its community at heart
• Low cost membership of an on-site gym and excellent sports facilities
• An exciting programme of staff ‘well-being’ activities, from Football to Surfing!

This is an exceptional opportunity to make a difference within a positive and exciting environment. If you share our community’s ethos of progression, diversity and dynamism then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Gosforth Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be required to undergo enhanced DBS clearance.

If you hold the skills and experience we’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you!
