A permanent position has arisen within Youth offending Service Engagement and Resources (ER) Team.

The post involves statutory work responding to young people held overnight and produced in Court the following morning due to Bail being refused. The post holder will therefore need to demonstrate confidence to work independently and liaise with other agencies such as the Crown Prosecution Service and presenting information to Court.

An understanding of legislation (Legal Aid and Sentencing of offenders Act - LASPO) specifically the thresholds on Bail Support, ISS Bail and criteria for remands to local authority accommodation and Youth Detention Accommodation Orders is beneficial .

The post holder would need to also cover these duties on a Saturday and Bank Holiday if necessary on a rota basis although this receives additional payment.

The post also involves providing support to complex and challenging young people subject to Court Order with a focus on engaging them and their families in positive activities and with a specific focus on motivating them to engage in Education Training or employment.

The post holder needs to demonstrate persistence and creativity in engagement skills and an understanding of desistence theory is beneficial.

You will be located in a multi-disciplinary team with a range of specialist staff and team working is pivotal in this role.

A driving licence and access to a car is also essential.
