Northumberland Pupil Referral Unit is a good short stay school aspiring to develop and improve further.

In June 2015 Ofsted judged us to be good in all areas.
Due to increased demand for places, the PRU is currently undergoing considerable refurbishment and building works facilitating expansion and increased capacity.

The children, staff and Management Committee are looking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher who not only has an inspirational character and impeccable classroom practice, but can also maintain strong relationships with staff, parents and other stakeholders.

*Applicants should be primary trained, but may be teaching pupils from Yr2 – Yr9.

This role requires an extraordinary teacher; an ambitious proven practitioner seeking a new challenge and eager to make an impact. We are looking for someone who is an outstanding role model in terms of teaching and learning and who is committed to inclusion, passionate about removing barriers to learning and dedicated to creating a climate of care, nurture and support, where children can flourish, re- engage and enjoy learning.

As Assistant Headteacher you will be playing a crucial part in the future success of the whole school. You will take a lead in teaching, learning and assessment – monitoring progress, analysing assessment data, scrutinising work, observing lessons and appraising performance. You will line manage a number of staff and part of your role will include supporting your mentees, encouraging them to achieve their goals and targets, identifying appropriate, focused, CPD opportunities and ensuring all staff maintain best practice.
The post will include a teaching commitment and it is crucial you are happy to maintain some time in the classroom.

Applications from ICT specialists, those with comprehensive ICT skills, experience of developing information management systems or introducing/using emerging technologies would be most welcome.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to develop their leadership and management skills in a supportive and aspirational environment.
Northumberland PRU is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils.

If successful you will need to apply for an enhanced Disclosure.
This post may require a declaration under the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2009, including Disqualification by Association.

Pre-application visits to school are welcome, please telephone the school office on 01670 514963.

** There may be exceptional circumstances where we consider secondary trained teachers if they were able to evidence recent, appropriate and outstanding practice in relevant curriculum areas.

An application pack can be downloaded below.

Completed application forms should be returned directly to the school by post, no later than midday on Friday 6th October 2017 Interviews will be held week commencing Monday 16th October 2017.
