This is an exciting and challenging time for those professionals who are interested in the field of Adult Safeguarding and Deprivation of Liberty. The Safeguarding Adults Unit incorporates all aspects of safeguarding activity including organisational/paid worker and complex abuse cases and we are in the process of establishing an adult Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub. The Safeguarding Adults Managers also provide safeguarding advice to professionals both inside and outside Newcastle City Council, they also chair Safeguarding Adults Strategy and Protection Plan meetings. The Safeguarding Adults Unit also manages the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards process.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated Safeguarding Adults Manager who is interested in joining out well-established and experienced Safeguarding Adults team.

The ideal candidate must be a progressed social worker with a minimum of 3 years’ post qualifying experience and be willing and able to manage a complex and variable workload in a busy environment, where priorities are constantly changing. You must be trained, or be willing to be trained, as a Best Interest Assessor under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

You will need an understanding of Safeguarding Adult issues including:
• Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults policy and procedures;
• Knowledge of the Deprivation of Liberty (DoLS) policy and procedures;
• Knowledge and experience of risk assessment/risk management;
• Ability to develop policy and procedures in relation to the Mental Capacity Act, DoLS safeguards and Safeguarding Adults;
• Ability to chair multi-agency Safeguarding Adults meetings;
• Knowledge of the safeguarding across the life course, including transition between childhood to adulthood.
