Newcastle Parks and Allotments Trust

The people of Newcastle share a passion about its parks and allotments. Newcastle’s first public park opened in 1873, and the case for quality public parks is as strong now as it was then. Newcastle’s parks and allotments are an intrinsic part of the city’s infrastructure, culture and daily life.

Newcastle Parks and Allotments Trusts are an independent charitable trust formed in January 2019 and in April 2019 will take over responsibility for Newcastle’s Parks and Allotments. We are a pioneering new charity operating in partnership with the people of Newcastle. The parks and allotments in and around Newcastle are amazing and enhance lives by providing a place right in the heart of our communities to improve our physical and mental wellbeing, to play sport, to practice our hobbies or to spend time with our friends and family.

Together we will make sure our wonderful green spaces, right in the heart of our community, flourish and grow. We are pioneering a new approach to how we manage and improve our wonderful resources and will be able to unlock new sources of funding that can protect Newcastle’s parks and allotments for future generations whilst remaining resolutely focused on strengthening the connections the people of Newcastle already have with their parks and allotments and looking for ways the help people forge new ones.

We are looking for a leadership team to join us as, together with the people of Newcastle and our partners, we begin to develop our Trust and its services. The precise nature of these roles will flex and evolve as the trust matures, but if you feel you fulfil our person specification, if you are passionate about parks and allotments and their benefits, if you welcome challenges, and if you would like to be a key part of the founding leadership of a truly special organisation, then please do apply for this opportunity. We’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking for a leader to create a positive culture which establishes, implements and delivers the Trusts’ operational business goals and to develop partnerships locally, regionally and nationally to ensure the delivery of the Trust’s services. You need to have the ability to actively engage with our local communities to encourage participation, innovation and improvement of our estate and services which establishes and maintains good relations with all of our stakeholders. You’ll also need to manage budgets and programmes of work which maximises external income and delivers key objectives of our Business Plan.
