Northumberland is a large and varied county containing schools of all types and sizes. We are committed to creating a system of support for all schools which will enable every child to attend a school which is at least good.

Northumberland County Council is therefore excited to announce further growth to its successful School Improvement Services. A new post of School Improvement Leader is an addition to the central team. The post will serve all school phases and sectors in Northumberland. The portfolio for the post will include improving outcomes for disadvantaged learners. The successful candidate will also cover a range of generic school improvement functions.

Candidates are expected to have experience of a broad range of leadership in school and a sharp understanding of all areas of practice in improving outcomes for disadvantaged learners. They will have extensive experience supporting a track record of rapid and sustained improvement at their own school and possibly across other schools. Candidates will have an in-depth knowledge of Ofsted inspection (and may have acted as an Ofsted inspector). They will be able to demonstrate the ability to think and work quickly under pressure. Secondments may be considered from the very best candidates.

Do you want to join a great team, with a clear vision, ready to make a real difference?
Do you believe you have the desire and ability to play a key role in school improvement across Northumberland?
