Further Information

The Work and Health Programme is to be modified to deliver further employment support to people impacted by the labour market downturn resulting from the coronavirus crisis.  The new DWP JETS Programme will support those who are newly unemployed and the programme will be part of NCCs employability and skills support package.  The successful candidate will be based with the Employability Team of the Learning and Skills Service, working alongside employability and curriculum programme staff including Employment Coaches, Business Advisers, Tutors and with other Council services supporting residents to take up employment and training opportunities. 


The role

The primary function of the Employment and Skills Trainer will be to work with the Employment Coaches and/or Employers, promoting training and identifying the training needs of Learners and/or the needs of Employers. You will be responsible for delivering training; assessing against relevant criteria on accredited qualification delivery; evaluating outcomes; providing follow-up support to Learners; administration and continuous improvement of training.  You will use a variety of training skills and activities in line with contract needs to engage and empower Learners focussing on their transferable skills to progress them to achieve sustainable employment. You will support a personal caseload of learners and contribute to the  wider teams performance objectives.

Courses delivered will be to unemployed residents and courses will include digital employability support,  health and wellbeing sessions, mock interview preparation, CV creation etc. You will be expected to contribute to the services standardisation meetings working alongside the Employability and Curriculum Lead contributing to the services Quality Improvement Plans. 

We are looking to appoint an individual who can demonstrate significant teaching and coaching experience working with client groups who have  barriers to employment.  Due to COVID19 it  is expected that you will be able to move away from traditional direct delivery mechanisms to deliver remotely, therefore, you should be confident delivering to an audience virtually and face to face

The post is fixed-term for 12 months and subject to funding.
