An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent full-time Sensory Support Social Worker, based currently at Tithebarn House, High Newham Road, Stockton On Tees. Ideally the post holder will have experience of this area of Social Work or hold a special interest in working with people with sensory needs.
The team consists of Social Workers, a Social Care Officer, administrative officers, and is part of the Early Intervention and Prevention Service.
The Team responds to requests for specialist assessments of need relating to adults and children with sensory needs. The main aims of the team are to:
- Assess the Sensory needs of the client.

- Offer advice, information and use of equipment/technology to prevent the escalation of needs/risks and promote well-being and independence.

- Promote independence and quality of life.

- Minimize the impact of on-going needs upon the lives of those with a sensory impairment.

- Delay the on-set of long-term needs for formal support by promoting independence and working with people and their families to use community resources and informal networks effectively.

The successful applicant will be able to effectively manage a caseload of clients and therefore organisational and problem-solving skills are essential.

This post has been identified as suitable for flexible working which enables the postholder to work 40% of their working time away from the office.

This role requires flexibility to work contracted hours over a 7-day period from 7am-7pm, to meet the needs of the service.

From 11th November 2021, the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) (Amendment) (Coronavirus) Regulations 2021 (‘the Regulations’) come into force. This requires staff of CQC registered care homes providing accommodation and nursing/personal care to have a full course of vaccination or hold a certified exemption from vaccination. This requirement also extends to visiting Professionals. This role has been deemed to be within the scope of the legislation and evidence of vaccination or exemption will be required as part of pre-employment checks.
