JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Building Control Technician provides assistance to surveyors and other construction professionals in the development of design solutions. The work involves the enforcement of building regulations and applying them to submitted building designs. As a Building Control Technician, you will be working under supervision within our building control team working alongside contractors, consultants and planners. There is also opportunity for future progression within the team upon the successful completion of your apprenticeship qualification.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: All candidates are required to meet the minimum essential requirements set out below. Please address in your application how you meet the following:
• Minimum 5 GCSEs Grade C/4 or above or equivalent Level 2 qualifications (must include English & Maths)
• Excellent IT Skills – Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
• Good Communication skills including report writing skills
• Ability to organise own workload and work effectively under pressure
• Ability or willingness to work towards independent travel around the Borough
• Flexibility to work outside normal office hours inc. weekends.

APPRENTICESHIP QUALIFICATION:
You will be given appropriate paid time off work, to attend college and work towards completion of the Level 3 Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship

PLEASE NOTE: You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in the same or similar subject.

APPRENTICESHIP DURATION: 39 months

SALARY: We pay our apprentices the National Minimum Wage depending on Age. The rates of pay increase every year in April – set by the national government.
• Age 23 and over, £9.50p.h., £18,328p.a.
• Age 21 to 22, £9.18p.h., £17,710p.a.
• Age 18 to 20, £6.83p.h., £13,177p.a.
• Under 18, £4.81p.h., £9,279p.a.
