JOB DESCRIPTION:
Dealing with all aspects of Council Tax, Business Rates, Benefits and Welfare including billing, collection, assessments and enforcement, you will work in accordance with statutory regulations and/or discretionary policies. The role will involve supporting the Revenues, Benefits and Welfare teams, maintaining records and sensitive information in accordance with legal and GDPR requirements.

The role will be varied with no two days the same. You will require excellent IT skills to be able to use case management systems for extracting information and creating and updating records. You will deal with a range of customers gathering information and provide explanations of often complex matters, and providing advise to maximise customer income and ensure receiving appropriate entitlements. In addition you will identify and investigate suspected fraud cases, and could include the preparation of documents for court.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: All candidates are required to meet the minimum essential requirements set out below. Please address in your application how you meet the following:
• Minimum 5 GCSEs Grade C/4 or above or equivalent Level 2 qualifications (must include English & Maths)
• Excellent IT Skills – Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
• Good Communication skills including report writing skills
• Ability to organise own workload and work effectively under pressure
• Flexibility to work outside normal office hours inc. weekends.

APPRENTICESHIP QUALIFICATION: You will be given appropriate paid time off work, to work towards completion of the Revenues & Welfare Benefits Practitioner Apprenticeship Qualification – Level 4.
PLEASE NOTE: You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in the same or similar subject.

You will be given a fixed term contract allowing you sufficient time to complete your apprenticeship qualification (see below), with the potential to secure a longer-term position to grow within the organisation. We will provide you with a dedicated Mentor to support you and you will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement as well as access to a number of additional employee benefits and additional learning and development opportunities.

APPRENTICESHIP DURATION: 15months

SALARY & CAREER PROGRESSION: We start our higher-level apprentices on Grade C – SCP3 £18,887p.a. £9.79per hour.
The grade of the apprenticeship increases upon successful completion of each year, subject to being on target with your learning, and gaining the relevant work experience
