Permanent Post - 37 hours per week – whole time (working pattern to be arranged)

Horizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of six Academies and one Sixth Form across the Tees Valley area serving a population of in excess of 700 students aged 5 to 19 with a broad range of learning difficulties.

The Trust wishes to appoint a full time caretaker to join our successful site management team. The post is permanent and will be primarily based at Abbey Hill but may involve covering absences and holidays at other academies within the Trust and therefore it is essential that the post holder has access to their own transport.

The post holder will also be required to complete daily checks on the hydrotherapy pool as part of their role and therefore experience of pool/plant maintenance would be an advantage, however training will be provided to the right candidate. Opportunities to complete a range of premises related training will also be available to the successful candidate. Previous school experience is not essential.

The post holder will work in partnership with the site team to:

• Be responsible for the scheduled checks on the hydro pool.
• Ensure the cleanliness of the Academy.
• Supervise cleaners and cleaning as and when required.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance that are above and beyond the scope of a competent DIY person.
• Carry out daily and weekly scheduled tasks.
• Have IT skills in order to operate planned maintenance programs.
• Be responsible for the opening and closing of the Academy as and when required.
• Be one of the named key holders for the Academy.

The successful candidate will be someone who is keen to maintain high standards and be able to use their own initiative with regards to prioritising their workload and recognising areas in the academy that require attention. Candidates should have some awareness of COSHH, although training will be given, and be prepared to work flexibly especially during the absence of colleagues across the Trust. Experience in a trade such as joinery or plumbing would be an advantage.

There is an expectation that all our staff will work across the Trust as necessary and the post holder could be asked to work at any of the sites across the six academies.

A visit to Abbey Hill Academy would be recommended. To arrange this and/or to obtain an application form and further information please e-mail Mrs. Julie Povall, HR clerk on julie.povall@horizonstrust.org.uk or contact by telephone on 01642 677113.

Completed application forms should be returned by 12 noon on Friday,8th July, 2022 to: Mrs. Julie Povall, HR Clerk, Abbey Hill Academy, Ketton Road, Stockton-On-Tees. TS19 8BU or by email to julie.povall@horizonstrust.org.uk.

Interviews to be held week commencing 11th July.
