As part of the Council’s Annual Apprenticeship Program, we have an amazing opportunity to train and gain work experience as Trainee Tutor with our Learning & Skills Service whilst working towards a post 16 - Learning & Skills Teacher apprenticeship qualification. We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference, to serve the people of our borough, and who is committed to their own development.

Our Trainee Tutor role provides a great opportunity for you to gain skills, knowledge and behaviours to kickstart your career in post 16 teaching and learning. You must already have a professional, technical, or vocational qualification(s) in the subject(s) you would like to teach in. We would be particularly interested in applications from those with a background in Health and Social Care, Visual Arts, Design, and Media, Digital, Hospitality and Catering, Signing and Lip Reading, working with people whose first language is not English, or coaching and mentoring people facing disadvantage and worklessness.
You will be completing the Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship Standard (Level 5) with us whilst obtaining essential skills and invaluable ‘on the job’ experience that inspires learners to engage, progress and achieve their full potential. You will train to deliver, plan, develop, evaluate, and assess a range of course and master how to deliver outstanding and effective teaching that is current, comprehensive, and challenging.
This vacancy is to work in our Learning and Skills Service in Billingham and at our outreach locations and so you must be able to travel independently around the borough and be able to work on some evenings.

As this is an apprenticeship opportunity, you will be provided with all the training and support you need to be a success. We are looking for someone with the following qualifications, personal attributes, skills and behaviours:
• A minimum of NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) or higher level professional, vocational or graduate qualification in the field to be taught.
• Minimum 5 GCSEs Grade C/4 or above or equivalent Level 2 qualifications (must include English & Maths)
• Practical experience of working in the subject you want to teach in for example if you want to train to deliver Health and Social care education, you should have experience in working in a health, care, or social work setting
• Experience of using Digital Technologies
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Team player who is not afraid to try something new
