This is an exciting time to join Adult Social CarePoint as we continue to evaluate and improve our front door services. The Contact Officers play a vital role where every day is different and presents with new challenges. The work is varied and fast paced. The role is office based with work mainly carried out over the telephone. Our office hours are 8am to 5pm, staff use a rota to alternate start and finish times to ensure that all hours are covered.
Excellent communication is a key skill required, both verbal and in writing, as is a knowledge of IT systems, however full training in our IT systems will be provided. You need to be able to record information accurately and concisely and be able to follow procedures and guidance.
The work can be challenging and may involve talking to vulnerable people, professionals and residents of Newcastle who require support from adult social care. The ability to screen and triage telephone calls, make decisions, signpost and ensure satisfactory outcomes is crucial as is the ability to maintain good working relations with colleagues, external partners and stakeholders.
We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.
