We're on the lookout for a compassionate, proactive and emotionally intelligent individual to join our team at Swansfield Park Primary School as a Children and Family Support Worker.

If you believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported and ready to learn and you’re someone who thrives on building strong relationships with families, empowering pupils and working collaboratively to remove barriers to education, this could be your perfect next step.

This is more than a job. It’s a chance to be a trusted presence in our school community, helping children navigate challenges and supporting families to access the help they need.

You’ll be part of a warm, inclusive environment where your voice matters and your impact is felt daily.

About the Role

As our Children and Family Support Worker, you will make a real difference every day. You will work directly with pupils, both one-on-one and in small groups, acting as a positive role model and helping to build their self-esteem and independence. This is a vital role, providing an extra layer of support to our pupils and their families, helping to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Key responsibilities include:

• Acting as a key point of contact for families, building strong, trusting relationships and offering support.

• Signposting families to appropriate services and completing Early Help Assessments (EHA) where needed.

• Liaising closely with teachers and other school staff, providing feedback and supporting our school's Thrive plans.

• Promoting the inclusion, acceptance and well-being of all pupils.

• Attending multi-agency meetings to ensure a coordinated approach to support.

• Helping to monitor pupil attendance and working with families to remove barriers.

About You:

Our ideal candidate will be approachable, empathetic and resilient, with a genuine commitment to anti-discriminatory practice.

Essential Requirements:

• An NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Child Development, Children & Young People or another relevant profession.

• Recent, relevant experience working with children with complex needs and their families.

• Experience working within a school or community setting.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to relate to children, parents, and other professionals.

• A strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and child development.

• The ability to keep clear and accurate records.

• A flexible, positive and tolerant approach to difficult situations.

Desirable, but not essential:

  • Thrive practitioner or ELSA training.
  • Understanding of multi-agency working.
  • Basic IT skills.

Why Join Us?

You will be joining a dedicated and supportive team at a school that is committed to the success and welfare of every pupil. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting, positive impact on our school community.
