Further Information
Hartlepool is a vibrant and energetic town with growing prospects. As an authority we want to make Hartlepool the best it possibly can be and want dedicated, driven and committed staff to help us achieve that.
The Educational Psychology Team is a very well respected, dynamic and creative service recognised both within Hartlepool and regionally in the North East. We are delighted to be able to advertise a permanent contract in our thriving and inclusive team. We are looking to appoint a Senior Practitioner EP to support the development of the Educational Psychology Team.
As well as taking on the full breadth of the EP role, Senior Practitioner EPs supervise Trainee Educational Psychologists and take a leading role in collaborating with other teams and contributing to specific projects linked to service and local authority priorities.
We would also consider applications from more recently qualified Educational Psychologists to undertake this position as a Main grade EP post depending on experience.
We have well established SLAs with schools in the borough, many of whom buy a session a week. Such regularity of input lends itself to our plan-do-review model of service delivery, with consultation and assessment leading to meaningful intervention over time. In addition, this leads to opportunities for creative and varied work at the individual, group and whole school level. Our time is not constrained by statutory processes, rather it is informed by intelligent and considered reflections about ways forward to improve outcomes for children and young people.
This year we have engaged in DfE pilot projects including SEND and AP Change Programme, ELSEC, PINS and APST, giving EPs a range of experience in providing advice and guidance, supporting workforce development and engaging in direct intervention. It also means that we are in a strong position to drive forward the new ‘Experts at Hand’ model in the authority.
We work hard to promote positive relationships and support wellbeing for all. This is established through a hybrid working pattern that brings flexibility and life/work balance alongside all the positives of being closely connected and a sense of belonging within a positive team.
Hartlepool Borough is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. This post is subject to safer recruitment measures and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required at the appropriate level. (delete if not applicable)
