Would you like to work for an 'Outstanding' local authority, one with an established management team, committed to developing excellent practice and ensuring that our staff receive the best support we can offer? These are exciting times to join our service: alongside making a difference to the lives of individuals and families, we are passionate about delivering continuous service improvement.
We are looking for a diverse and dynamic Social Worker, to join the Fostering Service. We are specifically looking for someone with a positive attitude, and a focus on quality and analytical practice.
As a Social Worker in the Fostering Service, you will play a key role in supporting and providing reflective, trauma informed supervision to foster carers. In addition, you will have proven assessment skills and an ability to analyse and triangulate information to reach a clear recommendation around an individual’s suitability to foster. Your practice will be child centred, ensuring that children’s voices are heard, understood and acted upon.
Your role will be diverse and service need led, with the flexibility to work between the Mainstream Fostering Team and the Kinship Team.
Our Fostering service is very experienced, highly supportive, friendly and passionate about what we do.
Hartlepool Children’s Services has a strong and effective culture; we are a collaborative team and pride ourselves on the highly supportive and relational way of working both within the organisation and with our children and families. This culture has ensured that we have one of the highest rates of staff retention in the region and feedback from our recent workforce survey confirmed that staff are happy working in Hartlepool and the support they are offered by all levels of management is excellent.
Our most recent Ofsted ILAC inspection in March 2024, judged us as being ‘outstanding’ regarding the effectiveness of our services to Children In Our Care and Leadership.
We have a flexible working model through the Council’s hybrid working policy allowing staff to work in the office and at home without being prescriptive.
You should possess or graduate this year with a social work qualification at a degree or diploma level (or equivalent).
Hartlepool Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This post is subject to safer recruitment measures, including an enhanced DBS barring list check and also need to be registered with Social Work England.
