Further Information
Hartlepool is a vibrant and energetic town with growing prospects. As an authority we want to make Hartlepool the best it possibly can be and want dedicated, driven and committed staff to help us achieve that.
We are seeking to appoint a Housing Assistant to work in the Strategic Asset Management Team, to help us provide an effective and responsive housing management service and deliver positive outcomes for customers.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual who will be involved in the day to day management of properties and will thrive in a busy environment where often no two days are the same.
More specifically, you will assist with monitoring rent accounts on an ongoing basis with an emphasis on personal contact with our tenants, working proactively and supporting early interventions – to prevent rent arrears from escalating and to prevent serious debt and homelessness.
With each day bringing new challenges you will work to maximise income through the effective collection of rent and arrears recovery, striking the right balance between providing advice and support to tenants to sustain their tenancy and referring cases for enforcement action.
Other duties include preparing tenancy agreements, setting up tenancy records on systems and maximising opportunities for tenant engagement and participation – setting up and conducting satisfaction surveys, collating and analysing findings on behalf of the service and, managing online consultation panels.
In the role, you will also be the key point of contact for students in the Avondene student accommodation – undertaking day to day student liaison and providing support. You will also be instrumental in the allocation and letting of the accommodation, conduct inspection visits and deal with general tenancy management matters.
In return we can offer you a competitive salary as well as a range of different benefits including access to a Local Government Pension Scheme; a generous annual leave allowance; access to a range of savings across the UK’s major retailers; Cycle to Work Scheme; an Employee Assistance Programme and Hybrid working and a flexi scheme where applicable.
Hartlepool Borough is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. This post is subject to safer recruitment measures and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required at the appropriate level.
