The Senior Woodland Officer – Coordination & Partnerships postholder will assist the Forest Manager in coaching and mentoring a team of Woodland Officers for ensuring the effective coordination of our grants and incentives. Furthermore, the postholder will play a critical role in delivering a step change in our woodland creation levels across North East England.

This will include working closely with existing partners from our Forest Partnership, which comprises six local authorities; national partners, such as Natural England, the Woodland Trust, and the Forestry Commission; and regional partners including the Wildlife Trusts and Living Woods. Furthermore, the postholder will assist the Forest Manager in building new working relationships with wider stakeholders and landowners.

We welcome applicants who have a strong previous experience in Forestry, project management, business development, partnership working, coaching, and mentoring staff. Furthermore, experience working with budgets, grants, and delivering projects and planting schemes to meet service and financial objectives.

The postholder will be employed through Newcastle City Council on behalf of the North East Community Forest Partnership and will work as part of the NECF Team. The NECF Team operate across six local authority boundaries, including Newcastle, North and South Tyneside, Gateshead, Sunderland, and Durham. We also work closely with colleagues in Northumberland via the Great Northumberland Forest.

The role is fixed term for 2 years, with a possible extension subject to available grant funding.
