Welcome to our first autumnal edition of our North East Jobs Thursday Spotlight page for 2026. The nights are starting to get darker, but we are here to shine a light on some of the fantastic positions available across our region.

This week, we're taking a look at new roles with Sunderland City Council.

Sunderland City Council are looking for dedicated professionals to join their Public Health and Wellbeing team for the high-profile 'Links for Life' programme.

This city-wide initiative is all about helping residents stay connected to their communities, making it easier for them to access the activities, advice, and opportunities that matter most. By bringing together local organisations, housing, health, and care services, Links for Life plays a vital role in reducing health inequalities and shaping Sunderland's prevention approach.

Links for Life Assistant (two roles)
Salary: £29,542 - £32,046 • Closing date: 27th September 2026

As Links for Life Assistant, you'll provide administrative, coordination and technical support across the Links for Life programme, working closely with colleagues, residents, partners and voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations.

The role will support the delivery of programme priorities through community engagement, public health training, digital platform administration and monitoring, investment programme coordination, and awareness-raising activities, helping to ensure services and support are delivered effectively and contribute to improved outcomes for Sunderland residents.

Links for Life Coordinator (two roles)
Salary: £34,811 - £37,563 • Closing date: 27th September 2026

The Links for Life Coordinators will be responsible for coordinating projects and partnerships, supporting programme development, gathering and analysing information, engaging with stakeholders and communities, and ensuring activity contributes to improved outcomes for Sunderland residents.

Coordinators will be asked to lead on, or provide specialist support to, one of several key areas of the Links for Life programme. Experience in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial: digital service development, workforce development and training, community engagement, programme management, performance monitoring or grants administration.

We are looking for individuals with experience of coordinating projects, programmes or partnerships and building effective relationships across organisations, particularly public sector and voluntary community and social enterprise sector (VCSE), and communities. You will have strong communication and organisational skills, experience of stakeholder engagement, and the ability to analyse information and turn insight into action.
