North Tyneside Council are looking to appoint a Senior Social Worker to work within the Adult Mental Health Social Work Team.
The team work closely with colleagues from Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to adults and their families experiencing severe and enduring mental health issues. The team also work alongside the North Tyneside Recovery Partnership (NTRP) which is a dedicated service for anyone living in North Tyneside, 18 years old and over, who are experiencing problems with drugs and alcohol.
The team work within a Ways to Wellbeing model which is flexible, responsive and promotes evidence-based intervention. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance the established social work component of the service and to work alongside colleagues from health. There is a strong commitment to working in partnership with service users, carers, professionals and providers, keeping the individual at the centre of the process throughout.
The team’s vision is to work alongside individuals to help keep them safe and well, leading upon and responding to any safeguarding concerns. Social workers aim to promote service users independence, empowering service users to do as much for themselves as possible, for as long as possible.
As Senior Social Worker you will provide management oversight of both qualified and non-qualified social work / social care staff within the team. This will involve providing advice and guidance, supervision and leading on appraisals and performance management. In addition you will be responsible for responding to safeguarding concerns, where required leading upon and chairing strategy meetings and conferences. Other duties can be located within the Job Description and Person Specification.
You must be motivated, organised, confident in decision making and display excellent leadership skills in order to undertake this role, alongside bringing a comprehensive knowledge and skill base to mental health and drug and alcohol services. You must be an enthusiastic staff member who is passionate about achieving the best outcomes for the residents of North Tyneside.
You should hold a relevant Social Work qualification such as the Social Work Degree, DipSW, CQSW or CSS and be registered with Social Work England and have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience within a statutory social care setting.
