About the role
The Journey Guide role is a newly created role to offer emotional and practical support to prospective foster carers through their assessment journey and beyond.
You will work closely to support applicants through all steps of their assessment journey, building a close trusting relationship to allow the identifying and solving of any issues swiftly. You will be a liaison between prospective foster carers and assessing social workers and other involved professionals. You will carry a caseload of prospective foster carers that you will support through assessment to approval and into their 1st year of fostering.
You will be working across one of the three sub-regional hubs, these are North (Northumberland, North Tyneside, Newcastle and Gateshead), Central (South Tyneside, Sunderland and Durham) and South (Middlesbrough, Darlington, Stockton, Redcar and Cleveland, Hartlepool)
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service. We will also carry out an online internet search for information that is publicly available online that might suggest that you are not fit to work with children or young people.
We want you to apply if you have:
- Experience in children’s services, fostering or family support (desirable)
- Previous foster carer experience (desirable).
- Willingness to undertake further training relevant to fostering recruitment, coaching and relationship-based practice.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (or ability to meet mobility requirements).
- 3 GCSEs including English and Maths, or equivalent.
