About the role

Permanent Assistant Team Manager opportunity for qualified social workers.

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced practitioner to step into the role of Assistant Team Manager within Cared for Team. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills, contribute to high-quality practice and support the team in delivering the best possible outcomes for our children and young people.

The Assistant Team Manager will:
  • Provide day-to-day management oversight, advice, and reflective support to social workers within the Cared For Team.
  • Support effective care planning, ensuring that statutory responsibilities are met and that practice remains child-centred, strengths based, and aligned with service standards.
  • Lead on decision-making for cared for children, including home stability, permanency planning, and risk management.
  • Contribute to performance monitoring and quality assurance, promoting consistent high standards of practice.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure integrated and coordinated support for children, young people, and their families.
  • Deputise for the Team Manager as required and support the wider service during periods of operational demand

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from experienced, confident, skilled, and reflective practitioners who can demonstrate:
  • Significant experience working with children in care or within safeguarding settings.
  • Strong understanding of statutory frameworks, care planning, permanency processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to motivate, support, and guide colleagues in a busy and fast paced environment.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality practice and improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • This is a fantastic opportunity for someone seeking to develop management experience or preparing for future progression into leadership roles
