We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Housing Options Manager to lead our Homefinder and Empty Homes teams, ensuring that customers are rehoused quickly, fairly and in line with Council policy and statutory requirements.
This is a key leadership role within our Housing Need Service. You will be responsible for driving performance across the housing register, allocations and lettings functions, ensuring that applications are assessed promptly, homes are allocated efficiently and service standards are consistently met.
Working within a fast-paced and demanding environment, you will use data, insight and performance information to identify opportunities for improvement, challenge underperformance and ensure the service continues to meet the needs of our residents. You will have a clear focus on reducing waiting times, maximising lettings, supporting tenancy sustainment and ensuring customers receive an excellent service.
Whilst the primary focus of the role is on the housing register, allocations and lettings, you will also need a good awareness of wider housing need and homelessness pressures. You will work closely with colleagues across Housing Need and Housing Services to ensure our rehousing services contribute to preventing homelessness and supporting vulnerable households to access suitable accommodation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Significant experience within social housing allocations, lettings and housing register services.
- A strong understanding of the legislative and policy framework relating to housing allocations and homelessness.
- A proven track record of managing and improving service performance.
- Experience of leading, motivating and developing teams to deliver excellent outcomes.
- The ability to make sound decisions in complex and challenging situations.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to use performance data to drive service improvement.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Our Carbon Net-Zero 2030 Action Plan
In 2019, North Tyneside Council declared a climate emergency. This declaration set a target to reduce the carbon footprint of the council’s operations, and the borough, by 50% by 2023 and to align to the Government’s net zero target of 2050.
We recognise the significant role we can play in the borough in helping to limit climate change, but we can’t do this alone; we need help from all our residents, businesses, voluntary and community sectors and of course all those who apply and work for us. Together we can make North Tyneside a sustainable place to live and work for everyone in the borough.
