Youth Re-engagement Practitioner – Tees Valley

£28,000 - £33,000 per year | Term time | Flexible full-time or part-time hours

OpenGate Education is developing a new approach to supporting young people who are struggling to engage with school. We are looking for a Youth Re-engagement Practitioner who can build trusting relationships, understand the barriers behind a young person’s absence or disengagement, and help them take achievable steps forward.

Working closely with young people, families and schools, you will provide practical, tailored support that builds confidence, resilience and readiness to learn. A key part of the role will be helping young people reconnect with education and, where appropriate, supporting their return to the classroom.

You may have experience in attendance, safeguarding, early help, youth work, alternative provision or family support. More than a particular job title, we are looking for someone who listens well, stays calm when things are difficult and believes that every young person deserves an approach that works for them.

The role will cover schools across Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough. Our planned base is between Redcar and Middlesbrough. Work-related mileage can be claimed and will be reimbursed in line with HMRC’s approved mileage allowance payments.

If you want to help shape a developing service and make a meaningful difference for young people across Tees Valley, we would love to hear from you.

Why work for us?

At OpenGate, you’ll help shape a new service built around what young people and schools actually need. We’re committed to working in partnership with schools, giving practitioners the time to build relationships, and providing thoughtful support that helps young people regain confidence and reconnect with education. You’ll join a growing team where your ideas and experience will help shape how we work.
