Horizons Specialist Academy Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Administration Assistant to join our team at The Fairfax Provision in Middlesbrough.
Horizons Specialist Academy Trust comprises of eight Academies and one Sixth Form across the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire area, supporting more than 1000 students with a broad range of learning difficulties and additional needs.
Abbey Hill has continued to develop its specialist provision and now includes a co-located base for students with autism. A small group of students are currently on the Abbey Hill roll but are based at the Fairfax Provision in Middlesbrough.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated team supporting the smooth and effective running of the provision.
About the role
As an Administration Assistant, you will be an important and welcoming first point of contact for students, families, visitors and colleagues.
The role will be varied, with responsibilities including:
- Welcoming and greeting visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answering the telephone and responding confidently to general enquiries.
- Providing effective administrative support to colleagues across the Fairfax team.
- Completing a range of general administrative and organisational tasks.
- Supporting the administration and paperwork associated with Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) meetings.
- Helping to ensure that the administration function operates efficiently and effectively.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a friendly, approachable and friendly manner.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have strong keyboard and IT skills.
- Be organised, reliable and able to manage a range of tasks effectively.
- Show initiative when responding to enquiries and supporting colleagues.
- Be able to work independently whilst also contributing positively as part of a team.
- Have a minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, including Math’s and English, or appropriate relevant experience.
Previous experience of working in a school environment and knowledge of working with SIMS or Arbor would be an advantage but not essential as training will be available to the successful candidate.
Although this post is based at the Fairfax Provision, there is an expectation that staff will work collaboratively across the Trust as required. The successful candidate may therefore be asked to work at one of our local Academies.
