Benton Dene Primary School is an outstanding National Support School, which shares an inclusive building with Benton Dene School in an innovative educational setting.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and highly motivated Playworker to join the team within our successful Out of School Club at Benton Dene Primary School.

We wish to appoint a caring, energetic and adaptable Playworker to support the delivery of high-quality wraparound childcare for our pupils. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children and can help create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can play, learn and develop positive relationships.

The successful candidate will be committed to promoting children's wellbeing, supporting positive behaviour and ensuring that all children have an enjoyable experience before and after the school day and during school holiday provision.

The Role
The Out of School Club operates:
  • Breakfast Club: 7.30am to 9.00am
  • After School Club: 3.15pm to 6.00pm
  • Holiday Club: 8.00am to 5.00pm during school holidays (excluding the Christmas closure period)
The successful applicant will work across these sessions in line with the needs of the provision totalling a minimum of 16 hours per week. Opportunities for overtime and holiday provision available.

Duties will include:
  • Supervising and supporting children attending the club.
  • Delivering engaging play activities and experiences.
  • Supporting children's social, emotional and physical development.
  • Preparing and serving snacks and refreshments.
  • Maintaining a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment.
  • Following safeguarding, health and safety and club procedures at all times.
  • Working effectively as part of the wider team.
Essential Requirements
  • Experience of working with children.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Requirements
  • Level 2 qualification in Playwork, Childcare, Teaching Assistant studies or a related field.
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification.
  • Experience of working in a breakfast club, after-school club or holiday club setting.
  • Driving licence to support with daily collection of pupils from local school using our own minibus.
