Help us shape the front door to Adult Social Care
This is an exciting time to join South Tyneside's Occupational Therapy Service as we transform how people access social care, with a stronger focus on prevention, early intervention and independence.
We are looking for Occupational Therapists who enjoy working at pace, making good professional decisions and finding practical solutions from the first conversation.
You will initially work within our developing front-door approach, helping to manage new requests into Adult Social Care, identify and manage risk and determine what can be done early to help people remain safe and independent.
You'll use your OT skills and clinical reasoning to:
- undertake timely, proportionate functional assessment and intervention;
- identify and positively manage risk;
- promote independence through equipment, adaptations, rehabilitation and other practical solutions;
- build on people's strengths, families and community assets;
- prevent, reduce or delay the need for longer-term care and support;
- work alongside social care, health, housing and community partners to provide a joined-up response.
Our OT role includes functional assessment, advanced clinical reasoning, positive risk management, equipment and adaptations, rehabilitation, strengths-based working and making best use of community and family resources.
You'll be joining us at a time when we want to harness the value of Occupational Therapy earlier in people's social care journey, helping people get the right support at the right time.
Although these vacancies are initially focused on our front-door and preventative work, our Occupational Therapists work flexibly across the wider OT service, including more complex and specialist assessment and intervention.
If you're an HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist who enjoys problem solving, partnership working and making a difference early, we'd love to hear from you.
