Under the Localism Act, 2011, Fire Authorities are required to appoint an ‘Independent Person’ as part of their arrangements in the promotion and maintenance of high standards of conduct affecting its Members.

Cleveland Fire Authority is seeking to appoint one Independent Person and applications are therefore invited from members of the public, particularly from those with experience in either a regulatory, commercial, professional or voluntary sector with an interest in the proper and effective ethical governance of an organisation.

Training will be provided and reasonable travel and subsistence expenses will be payable.

Applicants should not within the past five years have been an elected member, co-opted member or Officer of the Fire Authority, or a relative or close friend of such persons.
