Ref: 002 Head of Finance (Full-Time)

The role is based in Sunderland at the Flagship Beacon of Light, home to the Foundation. Reporting into the Director of Finance and Support Services, you will head up both the operational and transactional Finance function.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a suitably experienced and qualified accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA) to join us at an exciting time in the Foundation’s growth journey, following the recent opening of the flagship Beacon of Light. The Head of Finance has full responsibility for the financial requirements of this dynamic, exciting and thriving group of charitable (not for profit) organisations (including the charity and two subsidiary trading companies).

The role is offered on a permanent basis. Ideally, applicants will have experience of producing statutory accounts for not for profit organisations under charity SORP. Sage 200 accounting system knowledge or equivalent is a prerequisite.

Key duties:

• Lead and manage a small team of finance professionals, providing ongoing coaching and development
• Ensuring all financial requirements are met and work at a senior level in the organisation with the ability to provide sound financial advice throughout
• Manage month end close across all business entities, review process improvement within team and business function, provide robust technical financial advice and guidance to a range of senior stakeholders

The Successful Applicant:

A Qualified Accountant with 5 years+ PQE, with a solid hands on experience of coaching and upskilling staff and a proven track record of embedding a high performing culture.

Excellent IT skills, experience of preparing monthly and annual financial accounts, budget preparation and forecasting as well as dealing with external reporting requirements will also be required. Multi-tasking, prioritising, exceptional planning. In addition to your experience as a qualified accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA) you will hold a Management qualifications (working towards or the commitment to undertake will be considered). To be successful, you will possess at least three years’ supervisory/management experience, be a consummate Finance professional and be able to work at a strategic level as part of the Senior Leadership Team of the Foundation. You must be technically strong, with high attention to detail and possess a positive, resilient attitude
